A sad note to pass on

The FTC brain trust made it out the old ballyard last night to see our Buccos go a game over .500. It was a marvelous evening, but there was something missing. By about the third inning, we noticed that the old, shrieking vendor known for his calls of "COTTONCANDY!" and "LEMONADEY!" wasn't working the section.

Sadly, he passed away yesterday, the PPG reports. Here's a hat tip to him, from a couple fans who will miss his contributions to the stadium atmosphere. Rest in peace.

Couldn't agree more. Somewhere right now he's being served a cold, frosty lemonade.

Somehow, I feel like this one is even more our fault.

Than Buck O'Neil?

(For those of you who don't know, Matt and I killed the then preeminent statesman of the Negro Leagues, Buck O'Neil, by shortsightedly not standing in line for two hours at All Star Game Fanfest 2006 to meet him. I believe our exact words were "Eh, we'll get an autograph from Buck some other time!" "Yeeeeeeah!! Let's beat some traffic, bro!")
